Spin fishing trip

Spin Fishing Trips

For the spin fishing trip, we can find Barracuda, Jack, Snook, and sometimes Baby Tarpon, and whatever is hungry depending on the season. Bonefish can also be targeted during the trip. I have the best gear: Shimano reels, and PowerPro lines (10, 15, and 20 lbs depending on the target). We fish light, with monofilament leaders and artificial baits (no live baits available).

The fishing will be done on the boat, and depending on the weather, tides, and waves, we will decide where to fish. Most fishing will be done inshore and by the mangroves, but on calm wind days the reef can be an option. Please bring polarized sunglasses and sunscreen. You are always welcome to bring your favorite lures.

Spin Fishing Trip by Bay Boat

The Boat & Fishing Style

The Reef fishing boat is a Seahunter 22ft Bay boat powered with a 200hp Yamaha. This boat can fish the reef and inshore, depending on the weather and waves on the day.

Common Species We Target

For the reef we target bigger species Barracuda, Jacks, Kingfish and, depending on the season, Mahi Mahi, small Tuna, Wahoo, Snapper and whatever is hungry. Specialized trips are possible.

Techniques

In general we try to get Bluerunners for live bait and start with top water lures on the reef and also do slow pitch jigging. On request we can do light tackle trolling with lures or bottom fishing.

Our Equipment

We also use light tackle 4000 to 8000 Shimano reels and 20 to 30 lb braided lines and Shimano rods.

Catch Policy

If you like to do catch and release and the fish is good to let go, we release all fish.

If you like to take some fish for dinner we take most species (up to half the catch) and clean it for you to take. The other half will go to the captain and his neighbors as gifts.

Trip Details

  • Trip Duration: 4 hours
  • Pricing: $400
  • Capacity: Max of 2 persons per trip (All trips are private)
  • Departure Time: Early start is recommended. 5:45am for better chance on live bait, but can change to your liking.
